Designed and developed HTNMote, a hardware platform for the application of the Hybrid Technology Networking protocol. The sensor hardware includes dual-radio communication capability with SPI, UART, I2C, USB and GPIO interfaces. Storage extension is provided using an SD Card. It has several sources of power including options for sourcing power from energy harvesting. It is a two board design, with a separate power board and a main board that clip on to each other. An LCD can also be mounted on the hardware for visual interface. Performed successful field test with the hardware on a 36 rail car train deployment at the Transportation Technology Center Inc. under the Association of American Railroads at Pueblo in Colorado. Hardware resulted in 140% better performance over commercial hardware.
